Welcome to Project Companion

We were founded by several individuals that came together in our community after witnessing the large amount of stray cats and dogs in our local area. We began to work with the Vector Control to help many displaced animals find permanent homes in Maverick County and the surrounding areas.

Our first main project came when the tornado devastated a portion of Rosita Valley right outside of Eagle Pass, Texas. Through multimedia effforts and the loving hearts of families we were able to place 20 displaced pets into loving homes. Our long term goals include public education on animal health, spaying and neutering, the responsibility of owning a pet, adoption options, and many more projects in the future. Browse our website and visit often to see our progress.

Project Companion Says Teach Kids to Care

Project Companion is seeking businesses, civic groups, and individuals to adopt classrooms in Eagle Pass, Texas. The Adopt-a-Classroom program teaches elementary-school children to treat animals with kindness and respect.

Each $30 contribution made to Project Companion for the Adopt-a-Classroom provides a K-6 teacher and their class with a subscription to KIND News. The classroom newspaper features articles, activities, puzzles, and celebrity interviews that emphasize the importance of kindness and help children put basic values like compassion, responsibility, and respect into practice.

A subscription to KIND news includes nine monthly issues, September through May. Each issue comes with 28 copies of the newspaper and a teachers guide. Teachers also receive a mega-sized calendar poster of fun facts and tips and have access to reproducible worksheets to supplement each issue.

Highly acclaimed by thousands of teachers nationwide, KIND News has received numerous awards for educational & editorial excellence. Project Companion hopes to provide this valuable character education tool to as many as classrooms in the Eagle Pass Independent School District.

Donors may select a specific classroom to receive KIND News, or Project Companion can make the selection from their list of classrooms waiting to be adopted.

To make a contribution or for more information about the Adopt-a-Classroom program please contact Project Companion at 830-325-8795 or better yet email us at project_companion@yahoo.com.

Abuse Is Serious

Animal abuse is one link in a chain of abuse that hurts everyone; animals and people. Kids who hurt animals can grow up to be adults who hurt kids or other adults. If you know someone who has hurt an animal or who talks about hurting animals, tell thisto an adult in your family or to your teacher. Either you or the adult should call the police and local animal shelter. The chain of abuse cannot be broken until you share what you know.
